First Presbyterian Church Preschool
is an outreach ministry of First Presbyterian Church. The Preschool’s
mission is to serve children and families throughout the community by
creating a foundation for continuous growth and development in a nurturing
Christian environment. Enrollment is open to all children.
A "hands-on" approach is encouraged through
imaginative play, exploration, and experimentation. We use The Creative
Curriculum for Preschoolers as our core educational model.
First Presbyterian Church Preschool
encourages responsibility and independence in the children, while building
their self-confidence and self-esteem.
Class Structure
There are two teachers per classroom. Class size is determined by the
child's age and classroom physical space. For children under two years,
classroom enrollment is limited to eight children per class. In classes with
children two years through five years, enrollment ranges from eleven to
sixteen children per classroom. We offer four classrooms for
pre-kindergarten; one 3-day per week Pre-K (M/W/F) and three 5-day per week
Pre-K classrooms.
All Preschool staff are required, at a
minimum, to:
- hold an undergraduate degree in early childhood education, or hold
an undergraduate degree in another field and have successful work
experience in early childhood education.
- be currently certified in CPR and First
Aid.
- successfully complete annual Early
Childhood continuing education courses.
Ages Served
18 months through 5 years. A child's classroom placement is based on
his/her age as of September 30.

Children: $75.00/child
Children New to Program and Non-Church Members: $85.00/child
Hours of Operation
9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon; with extracurricular activities offered at an
additional charge.
 Lunch Bunch
Lunch Bunch is offered Monday through Thursday from 12:00 noon until 1:30
p.m. To participate, children must be 2 1/2 years old and not require a nap,
as we do not have napping facilities. Pack a lunch and beverage for your
child and let him/her join us for this popular activity. There is an
additional charge for Lunch Bunch.
Wee Little Arts
After-school art classes are
offered by Mrs. Barbie Brannock, a licensed
instructor for Wee Little Arts. Minimum age to attend art class is 3 years
old. There are four sessions offered each year,
and each session runs for eight weeks. These classes are offered at an
additional fee.
Summer Camp
Summer Preschool Camp is offered immediately following the end of each
academic year. This camp is yearly, contingent upon a sufficient enrollment
and a sufficient student/teacher ratio. Minimum age to attend summer camp is
2 1/2 years old. Summer camp is at an additional fee.
