Summer Sermon Series
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS: GOD'S PROMISES TO US!
When God gives these commandments, God
makes promises to us. God says:
- I
promise to be your God... you shall have no other gods
before me.
- I
promise to be there for you... you shall not make for
yourself an idol.
- I
promise you a good name... you shall not make wrongful
use of the name of the Lord your God.
- I
promise you I will be God and provide you rest... you
shall remember the Sabbath day, and keep it holy.
- I
promise you stability... you shall honor your father and
your mother.
- I
promise you life... you shall not murder.
- I
promise you my faithfulness... you shall not commit
adultery.
- I
promise you my generosity... you shall not steal.
- I
promise you truth... you shall not bear false witness
against your neighbor.
- I
promise you what you need... you shall not covet.
The Ten
Commandments can be seen as the Ten Promises of God.
Come
and join us as we remember not only the commandments, but
promises from a loving, gracious, faithful God! |

NEW MINISTRY INTERN: On June 1, Doug Friesema joined our staff as our new Ministry Intern! Doug is so grateful for this opportunity to explore whether God is calling him to professional ministry. During his intern year, Doug will receive a small stipend to cover basic expenses. We are keeping the cost of this stipend down by offering him free room and board with a church family. Currently we are seeking a church family who would be able to fulfill this role. Hosts should be willing to offer Doug a room rent-free and also be able to provide him with free meals. To discuss this further, please contact Associate Pastor Kim Wells by e-mail or call 296-7131, ext 101. For more information about Doug and his internship, please see the article on the front page of the June edition of The First Pres.
